Spelling Homework Begins!!  Spelling homework will be coming home with your child on Monday, November 18.  The homework is designed so that your child will be working on it a little each night, rather than having a full evening of spelling homework to do.  Each week, your child will have five or six spelling words. Your child will write a sentence with each word. It is important that students receive some guidance at home.  Ensuring that sentences start with an uppercase letter and end with the correct punctuation is very important as the homework is also meant to reinforce the written work that is happening in the classroom.

Book Orders are due on Thursday, November 21.

Thank you for supporting our home reading program.  It is exciting to see the growth students are making in reading.  This growth is due to students reading as much as possible. You may not be aware that we have a number of parents and grandparents who volunteer their time to come in each morning to read with a group of students.  This has allowed students to read with an adult on a consistent basis in our classroom and directly impacts the success students are seeing.
Many grade two students see reading chapter books as reaching their goal in reading, however they may not yet be ready to sustain focus on a chapter book for more than a few minutes at a time.  If this describes your child, it is important for them to select a picture book for home reading in addition to the chapter book they are reading.

Upcoming Dates:
November 22 - Non-instructional Day - No school for students
December 5 and 6 - Parent Teacher Conferences
December 19 - Last day of Class prior to the Winter Break
