January Report Cards We certainly hope that report card celebrations are going on this weekend.  Students have worked very hard and should be proud of the work they have done. Science We are exploring the concepts of “Hot and Cold” during our science learning time. Reading a thermometer and comparing temperatures has been part of our learning goals this past week. We will be moving into inquiry experiences where the students will learn how and when temperatures change.  Social Studies We are looking how Calgary has changed over time. We are hearing stories and learning about how missionaries and the N.W.M.P. began to build the city we now know  Mathletics We are practicing addition strategies and learning the place value of numbers. Heritage Park field trip fee has been added on to MyCBE / PowerSchool so it is now possible to pay the field trip fee online.  We are also happy to accept cheques or cash if that works better for you.   *Just a note about the $15 field trip fee:  This fee covers all of the field trips that you read about on the form, not only our field trip to Heritage Park.  We would greatly appreciate if you would pay the fee, even if your child is unable to join us on February 11th or 20th. Happy New Year and all the best wishes for 2020! We have started the New Year with a bang!  Learning how authors retell stories or use the ideas of others as a jumping point for their own stories Discussing setting and character in a stories read aloud  Creating individual characters for our own stories Planning a story on a storyboard Practicing addition, and introducing more adding strategies Playing math games to support our learning Beginning a Science unit, exploring Hot and Cold Temperatures   Learning about different people who settled in the Calgary area, and how Calgary came to be Practicing Basketball skills in the gym AND…   Surviving a week of indoor recesses Looking Forward: January 24 - Sharing Assembly, 9:00 a.m. January 27-30 - Lacrosse Residency in Gym January 31 - Professional Day - No School for Students February 11 - Field Trip to Heritage Park February 13 & 14 - Calgary City Teacher’s Convention - No School
