Highlights Students really enjoyed Pajama Day yesterday. The three classes came together for stories in each of the different Grade 1/2 classrooms displaying a real sense of BELONGING.   Students have been really engaged in our study of the Blackfoot people. We found it interesting that women were in charge of making tipis and that they rubbed animal brains into the bison hides to protect the tipi from the elements. Our focus in math this week was subitizing. We will move this concept into building mental math strategies for addition. Math Calendar Homework

Thank-you to all of the swimming volunteers who came with us to Killarney Pool making swimming lessons possible! It was amazing watching the students improve their swimming skills and gain confidence in the water.  October is Math Calendar Month - Each student brought home a math calendar.  Please work together with your child to complete the daily tasks, signing the space when the task has been completed.  If your child needs a bigger challenge, they can complete the task for the day in a unique way. For example, if they can count by twos easily, you may have them count backwards by twos, or have them start at an odd number rather than an even number. Home reading will be rolled out for grade one students over the next two weeks, as reading tests are completed. Students will bring home a reading bag with two books, and will read for 15-20 minutes. Hi Everyone, We miss you!  We just wanted to check in to let you know that we are thinking of you and hoping that you are all safe. These are unsettling times, and we are sure that some of you are feeling overwhelmed. We have been at school this week and we promise you, it isn't the same without you all here.  It’s very quiet!  Tomorrow is the first day of Spring Break, please enjoy the time with your families. Get outside for some fresh air, eat well, and have a good night’s sleep! Read a good book! Learn a new board game!  Thank you for the letters and emails so far.
